A New Project from Action in Rural Sussex

Future Village – A New AirS Project

Action in rural Sussex is launching a new project called FutureVillage which will be taking place in Heathfield until August 2011.  The project is being supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation through their Intergenerationall Programme and is in partnership with the East Sussex County Record Office.

The project will look back 50 years into the community’s history, research into what life is like now in Heathfield, and then us this research to predict how things will be for the residents of Heathfield – for better or worse – in another 50 years.

It is the participants of this project that will make FutureVillage unique.  It is our aim to bring older and younger members of the community together to work along side each other at every stage of the project.

Activities will include exploring historical documents relating to the area from the county record office, talking to the wider community about Heathfield today and helping to design a tool to be used by other rural communities who want to consider their future sustainability.

This project will continue until August 2011.  For more information, please contact Zoë Ganderton, Heritage and Participation Officer and Project Leader, 07786 980 715, zoe.ganderton@ruralsussex.org.uk
